Footage of Notch (Markus Persson) live-coding his Minicraft game in Java during a Ludum Dare 48-hour game jam. It shows a working game developer building a complete small game from scratch.
HN points to it as an example of Notch's famous live-coding sessions, which drew many early Minecraft fans.

If you watch some of Notch’s old game jam live streams; this is exactly how he used his Java environment and is probably why he was so invested in it. You can see some examples here when he just tests logic changes: this video (Though, he restarts often since he’s editing preloaded assets also)
As I recall Minecraft's snowball started with geek dads watching Notch live coding and buying the game for their kids. this video
