An RSA Animate illustrating a lecture by psychologist Philip Zimbardo on how people's perspectives on time (past, present, future) shape work, health and well-being.

Recommended in threads about culture and time orientation as an accessible presentation of Zimbardo's framework.

Instead of the linear, multi-active and cyclic times paradigm, another approach I found interesting is the one proposed by Philip Zimbardo neatly presented in this video: this video It presents individuals as being either past, present or future oriented. Apparently, the closer we are to the equator the more present-oriented we tend to be (because there are less seasonal changes).

      > There, the culture is to live by the day, because winter never comes and they don't need to prepare for hard seasons You might find this video interesting. Philip Zimbardo on Time. this video

See also this video entitled 'The Secret Powers of Time', posted on twitter by Jeff Atwood. this video I have to profess some interest in this, since my own 1-month old will likely grow up with the same iPhones, iPads etc., as the toddler in the article. The most worrying thing, is how the heck can kids raised on new media, Apps and books that talk, ever hope to even tolerate sitting in a classroom enjoying a traditional education? I dread to think of the overhaul that is needed and coming to education.

Obligatory-long-yet-relevant-animation(?) on our educational system: this video When are we (loosely speaking) going to realize that we're not teaching in the right medium.
