Dave Jones of EEVblog investigates why a 4K BenQ monitor switches itself off, tracing it to static discharge from an office chair. He uses an oscilloscope to examine the static impulses.

Linked whenever someone reports a monitor blacking out from static electricity, as prior art on the same problem.

It looks like the youtube embed is broken. It is supposed to link to a EEV blog video. It is wild how many times someone brings me broken equipment and it turns out EEV blog has already investigated the same issue for the same device. this video

    2. @dazzawazzaJan 2019· in “Everytime Employee 2 walks by a cubicle, one of the screens blacks out”

I posted this to reddit but I'm more likely to get a reasonable discussion on here. this video Dave covers "static" turning off a monitor in this video. Could it be this?

    3. @grumbelApr 2023· in “Check if your IKEA chair is compatible with your screen”

There is an old EEVblog[1] video on the topic. Mine doesn't do it from chairs, but it regularly blacks out if I turn on the nearby LED strip. [1] this video
