A short video promoting the claim that Madeleine Albright said the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children from sanctions were 'worth it', timed to her receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom. It reuses a 1996 Sixty Minutes interview clip.

Cited in political threads as an example of US sanctions harming civilians and of officials being honored regardless.

True. << The idea that one can be trusted over the other is utterly naive, >> At least the modern China is not known for war crimes (with hundreds of thousands of dead people) and destruction of countries. Example of war crimes: Madeleine Albright says 500,000 dead Iraqi Children was "worth it" wins Medal of Freedom (2012-05-02). this video U.S. Has Spent Six Trillion Dollars on Wars That Killed Half a Million People Since 9/11, Report Says (2018-11-14). [LINK] Quote: Overall, researchers estimated that "between 480,000 and 507,000 people have been killed in the United States’ post-9/11 wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan." This toll "does not include the more than 500,000 deaths from the war in Syria, raging since 2011" when a West-backed rebel and jihadi uprising challenged the government, an ally of Russia and Iran. But Belgium’s effort to identify the spies responsible and hold them accountable faced roadblocks at almost every turn. Europol, the European Union’s law enforcement agency, refused to assist. Prosecutors overseeing the case feared triggering a major diplomatic dispute and were reluctant to pursue it aggressively. Meanwhile, British spies tried to destroy the evidence. 3. @lustysocietyorgDec 2018· in “Canada has arrested Huawei’s global chief financial officer in Vancouver”

Maybe the most shocking example of bad UN sanctions pushed by the US: Madeleine Albright says 500,000 dead Iraqi Children was "worth it" wins Medal of Freedom this video Canada wants trade with the US more than trade with Iran and thus bows to the US. As do EU nations. Examples: [LINK] Quote: The Belgium-based financial messaging service added: “This step, while regrettable, has been taken in the interest of the stability and integrity of the wider global financial system.” SWIFT’s decision further undermines EU efforts to maintain trade with Iran and save an international deal with Tehran to curtail its nuclear program, after President Donald Trump pulled the US out in May. Being cut off from SWIFT makes it difficult for Iran to get paid for exports and to pay for imports. [LINK] Quote: Earlier this week, European Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova pledged to find an effective solution, saying that technical work on creating the mechanism to allow EU trade with Iran continued. “We Europeans cannot accept that a foreign power, not even our closest friend and ally, takes decisions over our legitimate trade with another country,” she told the European Parliament in Strasbourg, stressing that the bloc would not be cowed by probable US penalties.

In our western democracies, especially the USA, not only messages are deleted but persons are. 5. @acqqMar 2016· in “Mosul dam engineers warn it could fail at any time, killing 1M people”

du-de viggity, somebody else (yread) here posted, but outside of this thread, don't ask why, that Hoover dam also had to be grouted after it was finished: [LINK] and that that lasted 12 years. Now imagine that there wasn't peace at that time but that people couldn't even get enough food and medicine, and that at the time this should have been finished some 500,000 kids died, like in Iraq: this video There was an attempt by Iraqis to somehow fix this (building the second dam) but as said, there were worse things happening. I still believe that learning about everything that happened around the dam is more illuminating than the comparison with the Hoover.
