    The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

Ilan Pappé, Luis Noriega · 2006

Since the Holocaust, it has been almost impossible to hide large-scale crimes against humanity. In our communicative world, few modern catastrophes are concealed from the public eye. And yet, Ilan Pappe unveils, one such crime has been erased from the global public memory: the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians in 1948. But why is it denied, and by whom? The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine offers an investigation of this mystery.

      > I do not pretend to have or be able to gain any knowledge that could help this thousand year conflict

Why do you think this is a "thousand years conflict"? It started in 1917 when the British government initiated the process of handing over Palestine to jews in return for Lord Rothschild's money that they needed to keep fighting WW1 [1]. Jewish population of Palestine at that time was only around 7%.

Subsequent immigration of mostly European jews into Palestine, resulted in about 30% jewish population by the time Western powers decided to declare an independent Jewish-dominated state of Israel on top of Palestine in 1947. How could it be jewish-dominated when they were a minority? Well, you just forcefully displace everyone who isn't a part of your group, of course. Oh, they refuse? Massacre a few villages [2] [3] and then most remaining people will flee on their own. Sure, sure, you allow a small number to stay within the borders of the new country that you now claim, so that they can consistute about 20% of your population and you get to claim that you aren't a nationalist supremacist nation.

There is nothing "thousand years old" about this 20th century European white supremacist colonial settlement project.

"The civilians should be evacuated." They don't want to leave and Israel uses these "evacuations" to make sure Palestinians never return, as they did in 1948, 1967, etc[1][2]. This is whitewashing genocide and is an extremely violent view, packaged in reasonable sounding words. Israel has a long documented history of using terrorism to build its state. If you truly oppose terrorism I recommend starting with the books I've sourced.

It seems hardly fair to denounce one side of the scale as unbalanced as people lean on its other side.

The fact is that on this topic the propaganda with all its disinformation and misinformation is persistent, pervasive in media, and potent. You can start to see it for yourself — simply take a shallow dive into the history of this subject and you will immediately notice the degree of the active distortion of all discourses on this topic in the modern media.

It won’t take you a weekend to read any one of the below books on this topic. After which you will start to notice how the journalists and the op-ed authors leave out highly relevant details regarding the origins of the problems in order to — time and time again - blame the Palestinians for their plight and ultimately frame them as responsible for their suffering.

It’s not the Zionists that steal Palestinian land and demolish/steal existing houses to build new settlements it’s the Palestinians that didn’t accept a supposedly “fair peace deal” while nobody mentions that said deal requires giving up the right of return of millions of refugees displaced in 1948. It’s not the F16 pilot that bombed the residential compound filled with civilians it’s the civilians that voted a decade ago for Hamas. And on and on.

Read a short book and start to see for yourself.

It's quite amusing how you make baseless claim after baseless claim, then demand more evidence, besides the evidence you have already conveniently ignored. Your cognitive dissonance is actually quite mind boggling, you are the one "believing" in a narrative that is convenient for you, while we are the ones making judgments based on evidence, yet you accuse us of what you yourself are actually guilty of.

Even the testimony of the ex-IDF solider testifying that his job was literally to terrorize Palestinians should suffice to refute your false claims, but you can't be bothered to process the evidence because it goes against your preconceived notions.

      > I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you. You seem to have a firm belief. It's not objective and factually incorrect.

Yet here you are, arguing with me, making more baseless vapid claims which you can't be bothered to back up with any evidence whatsoever.

      >I'm not going to say Israel is innocent, far from it, but it's not a terrorist state. It's also not an apartheid state. Words have meaning and you're not using those words according to their meaning.

Wrong. Israel is both a terrorist state and an apartheid state, the evidence for which is overwhelming and we have given you evidence[0][1][2] for it too, while you provided 0 evidence for your false claims.

Time Immemorial? You must mean the book From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters. While that's perhaps the single most common narrative people believe, it's full of myths that most historians have dispelled back in the 1990s. The author attempted to “prove” the laughable proposition that the land was uninhabited before Zionist immigration created the jobs that attracted Arabs from other regions. Much worse were the claims that the exodus of indigenous Palestinian people was due entirely to the orders of advancing Arab armies, who invaded the new Jewish state of Israel. The sad reality is that almost half of those expelled (300,000) were driven off their land before the war started (my parents included).

One would be much better off reading actual historical accounts the region: The Hundred Years War on Palestine (Rashid Khaldi) and The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine (Ilan Pappe).
