Automating away the tedious parts of your work is something sysadmins and programmers have been doing for a long time. For example see:

I’m not wrong. They do use feature flags, but not as a substitute for rolling back failed or buggy deployments. They (and Google too) use feature flags in the ways according to the best practices discussed in the article. Google also covers this well in their highly-regarded Site Reliability Engineering book.

Source: worked at AWS for 7 years.

And knock it off with the attitude.

This reads like a bit of a smell. I'd be pretty suspicious of why you have tasks and reminders in the first place. The question also reads like the volume of these tasks and reminders is large enough to be a problem.

You should check out the "toil" section of the Google SRE book

      https://sre.google/sre-book/eliminating-toil/

      > If a human operator needs to touch your system during normal operations, you have a bug.

Data Center reliability engineering is insane (in a good way).

I recommend reading Google's SRE book [0] to get a feel of some of the work done in this space.

May I recommend this chapter from the Google SRE book: https://sre.google/sre-book/being-on-call/

As well as this two from the management section: https://sre.google/sre-book/dealing-with-interrupts/ and https://sre.google/sre-book/operational-overload/
