Detailed is a publication on SEO and search marketing, analyzing which sites dominate Google results and how they do it.
HN commenters link its breakdown of the few brands dominating Google, which feeds discussion of Reddit, Quora, and platformization of the web.
Kagi founder here. This is very early (alpha) concept built by a single Kagi Labs developer in a few weeks. The proper infrastruture and product is not built yet. We are launching a prototype to get feedback and gauge demand.
Why does this exist?
It would be an efficient way for us to build and expand our own index. Assuming users of this would be Kagi users, we would expand our index by tens of thousands of high quality? personal websites, hobby projects, startups, documentation websites, etc., also helping to surface them in our results (where relevant, like we already do with Kagi Small Web initiative [1]). It is a win-win for both our users and Kagi.
It would also be a way for Kagi to get some exposure outside of kagi.com (provided the search widget has some branding on it).
This is why it makes sense to offer it for free for smaller sites/projects.
And crowdsourcing index is completely opposite direction of one that causes deterioration of web search results in ad-supported search where few entities control the majority of space [2], so we like it.
That is the plan - and since this is a "Labs" project, we are open to it crashing and burning. Know we do not, until we try. Try and try again, we must.

> I would actually be looking to either reddit, or gaming YouTubers or gaming sites I already use
In my mind, this is actually the problem. Over the past 15 years, the "web" has become increasingly platformized, and it's getting more platformized every year.
The web is, for all intents and purposes, at the control and direction of Google, Meta, YouTube and a few other players.
When you do finally get into the "independent web", it made up Forbes, Tom's Guide or CNET. 16 companies own the vast majority of the web that we all use: https://detailed.com/google-control/
I feel like google is prioritizing reddit way more than regular forums . Quora is the second most annoying thing , Search for y , Click on top result which is Quora > Either it's a personal opinion or a brand account answering or the real answer is locked behind subscription . Not to mention the dominance of large brands like this https://detailed.com/google-control/ and non existent personal sites . But i am still pessimistic about new search engines like bing has backing of a behemoth microsoft yet can't copy simple features from google.
There was another article here on HN some time ago on how big media publishers are littering the web with spam recommendations https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39433451 (https://housefresh.com/david-vs-digital-goliaths/)
This listed review spam from Dotdash Meredith which I used a clue to search and block all sites by them using uBlacklist.
Edit: Found another article saying the same thing there are only few big media giant's dominating search https://detailed.com/google-control/

Can't you simply go through this image and manually create a list from all the logos?
Yes, it would take time and would be tedious, but it's very possible to do in an afternoon.
One of the author's peers uses MailChimp and saw the drop. https://detailed.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/paul-jarvis.jpg. That's in the article.
"Did you read the post"...that always shuts down discussion.
