Problem is horrible lags, and I mean just program working bad, not latency. I tried doing it with X11 now, and I gave up before I could even type "youtube" to address bar. Then I tried doing ssh -X remote firefox this video and it wasn't better. I saw the new firefox window, but it stayed unresponsive. And I bet part of the problem is due to Youtube (and browser generally) involving some non-trivial drawing technologies, rendering a video is not like showing a GTK interface.
I was wondering when this would happen. YouTube Music sucks so bad. They mix in all of my liked videos w/ into my music. Just because I upvoted Baby Shark Dance [1] doesn't mean I want it in my effin' music rotation. Spotify is annoying because the radio stations are garbage & I can't (or haven't yet figured out how to) downvote music. [1] this video
When you host videos with near 17 billion views you're going to want to stream those videos in as few bits as possible: this video That extra 25% becomes worth it. Nothing will become obsolete. AV1 will stick around for a long time. And YouTube still does H.264 encodes to support old devices.
Disney+ is for kids I’d say. The absolute wealth of that back catalog is insane. However they’re hard pressed at the bottom by YouTube two hour repeat videos of Baby Shark (the absolute most watched video in history - this video - 12 billion )
Dan, I have to tell you, Baby Shark is almost at 2 billion youtube views: this video There's also a remix: [LINK] Two, in fact: [LINK] Would you be interested in collaborating on a metal remix of Baby Shark? I think it could do well. I'm looking for a vocalist. I can't pay you yet, but you'd get exposure. EDIT: His teeth still bared in a grin, the Procurator glanced at the prisoner, then at the sun rising inexorably over the equestrian statues of the hippodrome far below to his left, and suddenly in a moment of agonising nausea it occurred to him that the simplest thing would be to dismiss this curious rascal from his balcony with no more than two words : ' Hang him. ' Dismiss the body-guard too, leave the arcade and go indoors, order the room to be darkened, fall on to his couch, send for cold water, call for his dog Banga in a pitiful voice and complain to the dog about his hemicrania. Suddenly the tempting thought of poison flashed through the Procurator's mind. He stared dully at the prisoner for a while, trying painfully to recall why this man with the bruised face was standing in front of him in the pitiless Jerusalem morning sunshine and what further useless questions he should put to him.
