A one-minute clip from Mad Men season 5 in which Don Draper tells Michael Ginsberg in an elevator that he doesn't think about him at all.

Posted purely as a joke reply to scenes of one party dismissing another, such as rival companies or high-status people brushing off others.

I will preface this with: Apple is _far_ from perfect, sometimes they even fail the “good” bar and I have serious issues with the direction they are going on some products/software. However, I see them as the lessor of two evils. I understand you might not agree, that’s just the conclusion I’ve come to. > Wrong. The vast majority of Apple fans don't care about Android. This is my experience as well. I prefer Apple products but I have Android phones/tablets (test devices) and know there are aspects where Android is better. That said, I have some friends who make it their life mission to mention any Apple/iPhone failing to me. I just don’t get it. I literally never bring it up, or if I bring up anything Apple related it’s just me excited about a new device I got, never in the context of “look how much better it is than Android”. Even then, I’ve learned to temper my excitement lest they see it as an opportunity to tell me all the problems/issues they have with it. I don’t follow Android news closely, I don’t share “gotcha’s” about the hardware/os, etc. It reminds me this scene in Mad Men [0], I literally do not think about Android or Android users but I know a couple Android users who seem to obsess over Apple products/users in a way I cannot relate to and do not understand. I can bet any negative Apple news will be relayed to me by them, I literally could not care less about the Android ecosystem issues (of which I see many). [0] this video

      > But the real issue boils down to human in/out group dynamics. Being excluded from group chats or having people get frustrated by the lone Android user in the group are powerful forms of peer pressure. This reminds me of the Don Draper "I don't think about you at all" scene from Mad Men. this video There is an odd coincidence/overlap with friend groups and overall lifestyle/ideology and imessage vs android or blue vs green bubbles. I have like a few obscure friends who use android and they are all maga or counterculture weirdos. Meanwhile everyone else that I know (literally everyone, including a huge group chat for my gym weightlifting group, all close and extended family) uses an iPhone and iMessage. Back to don draper: Android users cry about being excluded, but the rest of us don't even think about android users. It's not Apple's responsibility or obligation to fix this.

    3. @joshstrangeJul 2023· in “US iPhone market share jumps to 55% as Android shipments fall sharply”

Personally I don't understand the friends I have that use Android. They wear it as a badge of pride that they didn't give Apple money [0], ok... cool? None of them use a third-party app store, none of them use a custom rom, none of them really customize the phone at all past stock. I understand if you want to go the Android route to root/customise it but if you aren't going to do that then I really don't get the point. Google and Apple are, at worst, equal in how "evil" they are and in my opinion Apple comes out on top for more things that I care about. I also never say shit about their phone/computer choices but for some reason some of them find reasons to bring up my use of Apple products regularly. Makes me think of the scene in Mad Men "I don't think about you at all" [1]. [0] [LINK] [1] this video

    4. @joshstrangeOct 2021· in “Asahi Linux for M1 Macs: progress report for September 2021”

      > Everything Apple does they do because it makes sense for them. They are neither trying to help nor hinder third-party OSes. They just don't care. That's my read on this as well. They designed it so it would work well with their other hardware/software and this is what they landed on. I seriously doubt they paid even a second of thought to other OSs running on their hardware. Some people will call that "user-hostile" but it's much closer to apathy IMHO and as a macOS and Apple hardware user I'm fine with that. It's cool that Linux can/will run on the M1 but I'll never be doing that myself. It reminds me of that scene in Mad Men "I don't think about you at all" [0] but Apple's feeling isn't even as sinister or hostile as the comment made by Don. [0] this video

    5. @toomuchtodoJan 2023· in “Wyoming wants to phase out sales of EVs by 2035”

California is the world’s fourth largest economy and has 12% of the US population (39 million compared to the 600k folks living in Wyoming). It’ll continue to be an economic powerhouse long after people complaining online about the state are gone. If complaining makes you feel better, do so, but it doesn’t change the facts. It’s certainly not going to hurt California [1]. Edit: I have never lived in California. [1] this video
