A short clip from The Simpsons episode "Hurricane Neddy" containing the line "We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas."
Invoked as a joke reference when someone seems to give up or ask for help without trying anything.

> The lockdowns simply do not work. We don't really know this because almost nowhere is actually locking anything down. We have these feeble and unenforced "stay at home" orders which are full of loopholes and largely ignored. If you go out for a drive in your town today (against stay-at-home guidance), you'll see all manner of stores open, people out and about horsing around, even restaurants. We're hardly taking any precautions at all. We don't know if lockdowns work because we haven't actually tried it. It's like the Simpsons quote, "We've tried nothing, and we're all out of ideas!" [1] A few places on earth like NZ and Australia actually did stay-at-home with far fewer loopholes, mandatory quarantining, contact tracing, and they're doing much better. 1: this video
One should come before the other. You should parent before calling for regulations. > The comment about moms blocking YouTube is a bit ridiculous. Seems hard to believe likelihood of finding one could be higher than the likelihood of finding a kid who can work around it. It is not hard to block domains at the router, and restrict the devices your child has access to. Of course they might use a friends, or find a way around it. But the OP is literally talking about overhearing the video on the couch and not doing anything about it. That's why I asked what they tried... this video
It seems like an illogical position to me. Doing the correct thing, to solve a problem, involves getting buy in from the stakeholders. E.g. this video
