    1:53 · 8.3M views · Mar 27, 2012

A short Boston Dynamics demo of RHex, a 30-lb six-legged robot built for rough terrain, remotely operated with a video uplink and about four hours of battery life. It can run right-side-up or upside-down.

Mentioned in passing as an example of practical legged robots and as a comparison point for hexapod projects.

How is it practical? It's a beautiful design, but far simpler designs can run circles around it in every scenario I can imagine. A small version might make for a fun desk toy. When I think practical, I think Boston Dynamics. this video [LINK]

Nice. My friend did his PhD on gecko adhesives too[1]. He later built[2] a "six-legged" robot like Boston Dynamics' RHex 'bot[3]. [1] [LINK] [2] [LINK] [3] this video
