I wish this one was required reading.

It is the popular fad to be ignorant of the rampant mismanagement that is always prevalent in Communist countries. People should read the books written by people who defected from the Soviet Union to get an idea of just how bad it can get. “The Liberators: my life in the Soviet Army” by Viktor Suvorov is a good one. And it can be read online: <https://archive.org/details/liberatorsmylife0000suvo>

This is clearly not a problem with capitalism. Do you think that Communist countries are somehow less wasteful?

Try reading “The Liberators” by Viktor Suvorov. The first chapter is pretty instructive.

No, we're still a lot better off than anyone in the USSR was. A number of defectors have written books you might want to familiarize yourself with. I recently read _The "Liberators"_, by Victor Suvorov; I recommend it.

The original idea of nudging a vote this way was brought to my attention in a book by Viktor Suvorov (it was either Aquarium or The Liberators).

Some communist asshole wanted his nephew or something hired for some government position. He made the mistake of doing a vote by asking "all in favor?" because no-one raised their hands. What Suvorov suggested was the guy should've used "all opposed?". He said no one would've raised their hands neither but the result would've been very different ;)
