    The Thank You Economy

    Gary Vaynerchuk · 2011

It's easy to think of business sales as one-sided transactions: good productions pumped into the hands of production-hungry consumers. But according to Gary Vaynerchuk, those one-way exchanges no longer tell the true story of what's really on in the American marketplace. Using example after example, he explains how our new Thank You Economy is superseding old models with its combination of constant communication, honesty, responsiveness, quality, and value.

"Nuclear option"? I think it is more the Applebee's / lame tech support option. It was taught to the whole industry and now is used by everyone to a counterproductive end. I subscribe much more to the ways described by Gary Vaynerchuk in the The Thank You Economy where someone swore to his face and that person is now, years later, one of his VPs after Gary got to the bottom of the problem.

This kind of amazing customer care is something every company can aspire to - and not just for the obvious reason of making people smile. This cost LEGO maybe $300 and has netted them an incredible amount of positive press and rekindled emotional connections with their brand.

If you want to read two great and inspiring books about this, read The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk and Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh. We're working to build a culture of over the top customer service and these books are our bibles.

I think that the word 'reputation' is key to the entire page. I like the part about 'Customers Love Transparency' it makes me agree with you.

The sets of bullet points are very relevant and make the book seem informative, actionable and useful. I'd try to make 1 point not run to 2 lines.

The phrase "Master building rock solid trust and reputation" didn't scan quite right to me. I'd probably change it to something like

"Build rock solid trust and reputation"

I do think injecting a bit of carefully chosen colour would help too. Privacy policy and law can seem a dry subject so it's up to you to show the importance and add the colour of your enthusiasm.

For example if you look at a book like The Thank You Economy, a striking colour scheme and focusing on reputation, trust and relationships makes you understand the passion the author has for the subject.

It's not from this year, but I have to say it: I read Rework quite a few months back and it honestly changed my life. Other than that, The Thank You Economy is a good one as well.
