    Kiss your dentist goodbye

    Ellie Phillips · 2010

This book shows readers that den-tal problems, including discoloured and unattractive teeth, can easily be controlled -- without pain, flossing or big dental bills. Dr Ellie Phillips has developed a low-cost system to strengthen your teeth and keep them healthy and without big bills! Her simple, preventive program has just three steps: 1. Use Xylitol -- a sweetener derived from a natural sugar found in plant and vegetable fibres -- to eliminate bacteria; Use well-tested mouth rinses to further eliminate bacteria and control the acidity in your mouth; Avoid foods, drinks, and situations that weaken tooth enamel, and consume protective, healing foods to build it up. Traditional dentistry cannot prevent cavities or eliminate gum disease. But this do-it-yourself treatment plan can. Using the products Dr Phillips recommends, in the way she describes, reduces plaque build-up, strengthens tooth enamel, repairs small cavities, eliminates tooth sensitivity, and improves the way your teeth look. Who wouldn't love clean, whiter, healthier teeth?

Ellie Phillips has this triple mouthwash system, in her book "Kiss your dentist goodbye". Apparently she hasn't had her teeth cleaned in 40 years. I have been using it and it seems to work, in that my dentist says I have the best teeth out of all his patients despite me brushing my teeth maybe once a week. The motivation for the mouthwash is simply that mechanical brushing isn't sufficient to kill the bacteria, whereas mouthwash is if you can disrupt all of the biofilms. And then the other two mouthwashes are for pH and fluoride.

I would like to recommend the book Kiss your Dentist Goodbye, by Ellie Phillips, DDS. If you want to understand oral hygiene this book is great. It also has a care program involving three different mouthwashes!

A compelling book on tooth care is Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye by Ellie Phillips. It advocates for:

      - Using flouride toothpaste.

      - Using a combo of bad-bacteria-killing mouthwash and flouride mouthwash (especially before bed).

      - Eating or finishing meals with tooth-protective foods.

      - Chewing xylitol [0] gum or mints. Xylitol is a sugar-replacement (with a lower insulin response) found in plants . I think Epic Dental has the most reasonably priced stuff that I would trust.

Her routine is here [1]. I think her suggestions are reasonable. She has a product line, but you can use generic products that fit her guidelines. Just match up the ingredients.

Also, a couple good points in the book Breath by James Nestor:

      - We have malformed mouths and teeth because we don't do enough serious chewing. Think bread/mac and cheese/peanut butter vs carrots/steak/celery.

      - Mouth breathing is bad. Your mouth dries out and this assists tooth problems. You can solve this while sleeping by taping your lips together.

I first heard about Xylitol at natural food stores and from this book - "Kiss your dentist goodbye" (written by a dentist) - though like you say, no dentist that I've been to in person has mentioned it

      > Teeth don't heal...

Read the book, "Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye".

Despite the clickbaity title (well, the paper book equivalent), it talks about how your teeth naturally do regenerate in the proper conditions, and what those conditions should be [1]. I've been personally using the system for a few years, and the last couple times I went to the doctor, no cavities have been found and my teeth are healthy.

      1. If you want to skip the why and get to the how, you can read this web page and other links on it for more detail: https://drellie.com/my-system/ The only thing I do differently is include flossing using floss sticks.
