Edward Niedermeyer covers the auto industry, with a heavy focus on Tesla's production, factories, and the EV battery business.
HN commenters use it as a source on Tesla's production problems and swap stations, with some disputing its claims and others citing its sourced documents.
Read this related article, one of the most interesting I've read about Tesla I've seen. It talks specifically about this swap facility. Basically this one charging centre allows Tesla to claim hundreds of millions of dollars of electric vehicle government-funded rebates due to a condition of the rebates. If this centre is in fact powered by diesel, that's a whole new level of irony.

It mentions how Tesla is able to maximise it's electric car rebates by making at least one centre that can offer a fast swap capability, even though practically all (or all but one) of their customers do not and can not charge cars this way. Having a fast recharge was a key requirement to qualify for the rebates.

It seems that yes, we should take a grain of salt and a lot more. There's definitely something fishy going on here.

if it is the 2010 article it was a bit ridiculous by bringing up every anti bailout reference possible to take away from a vehicle and comparing it to other cars when it was really a first of its kind; an EV with a REX.
I own a 2nd generation Volt and love it, never really cared for the styling or interior of the first generation but mostly because the range of the first attempt fell short of my needs. My current Volt solves both my problems, I have the ability to go all electric on my commute of 54 miles round trip if not 10 more in summer. I can go any long distance trip I want and not worry about being stranded or having to wait an hour or more for a recharge even 200 less miles.

Since I've seen this mentioned a few times in the comments, it's worth noting: Tesla did not expose the identity of the customer who had the suspension problem. Edward Niedermayer is a blogger who uncovered a post on a car forum[1] and then made hay out of it[2] causing some national media to report about it. Tesla was merely commenting that this blogger has a pretty clear anti-Tesla bias in his other writing. If anyone's responsible for exposing the customer to scrutiny, it's Niedermayer (who linked to the semi-anonymous forum post and turned it into a media story).

Tesla originally planned to run two production lines but had to drop to a single one, and they're doing it in an expensive and unusual manner, and a second won't fit in their fremont plant, and they still plan to build out the second line in the same unusual 'cold' manner.
This leads me to expect it's reasonable their burn will continue at the same rate.
Furthermore, it's estimated they won't reach 3k a week till the end of 2018.

Ok lemme slow down and do it one at a time. Remember the battery swap scandal? There were many articles written about it.[0] Turns out it was a conscious scam by Tesla to increase its vehicle credits[1]
I've got more, but I think I'd have better luck taking it one at a time so I'll wait...
