The complete six-stage album series Everywhere at the End of Time by The Caretaker, about 6.5 hours of music that depicts the progression of dementia through distorted, decaying old ballroom recordings.

HN recommends it, often emotionally, as an auditory depiction of memory loss, in threads about dementia and aging.

Check out the 6 album cycle that depicts the gradual degradation of dementia: Everywhere at the end of time by The Caretaker. A brilliantly imaginative work. this video Chatgpt: This ambitious project was released in stages (or "stages") from 2016 to 2019, across six albums, each representing a different phase of dementia. Through his distinctive use of manipulated pre-World War II ballroom music, The Caretaker, aka Leyland Kirby, explores the progression of the disease, from subtle early signs to the total disintegration of memory and understanding. The work is both an artistic exploration and an empathetic representation of the condition's impact on the human mind and memory.

I've recently discovered Everywhere at the End of Time by the Caretaker (James Kirby). It's a series of six music albums exploring and depicting memory loss, Alzheimer's disease and dementia. I wish I had the writing skills necessary to convey the emotional turmoil I went through by listening to the six stages in one sleepless night. this video I also appreciated the attention to the details from the track titles to the choice of album covers. The last image – a broken canvas seen from behind – is especially haunting. It's the kind of experience that makes you re-evaluate many life choices.

Thematically related is the music of The Caretaker. It's haunting and beautiful and quite memorable. Check out An Empty Bliss Beyond This World[0], which is kind of a nice album for some melancholy reflection on age and the experience of dementia. His final 6-album sequence, Everywhere At The End Of Time[1], is less accessible, particularly the final 3 albums which are mostly noise (the whole 6-hour work was a terrifying listening challenge on TikTok a few years ago). The statistical prevalence of dementia is absolutely shocking to me... It is bar none one of the worst experiences one can go through. This [0] is an album that is an auditory approximation of it. I sincerely hope for more discourse and research dedicated to understanding, preventing, and treating it. [0] this video

Semi-related: not delirium, but if you haven't come across it, check out the "Everywhere at the end of time" series of albums. The music is written to track the timeline of dementia progressing [1]. [1] this video
