I listen to this whilst surfing the web: [LINK] Also handy: [LINK] [LINK] This is a personal favorite too - Star Trek TNG Ambient Engine Noise (Idling for 24 hrs): this video Personally, whilst coding, I enjoy absolute terrifying silence.

If you like those you might also like the star ship Enterprise idling, for 24hrs... for a more futuristic spin (haha!) on things. this video

I just listen to the Star Trek TNG Ambient Engine Noise[1] if I'm coding or trying to focus. [1] this video

I really enjoy working in an open plan office. The distractions don't really bother me and I appreciate the energy level going around. I obviously use headphones to cancel out noise when I need to focus, sometimes just playing white noise tracks or no sound at all ( this video is a personal favorite). Having a heavy distraction-oriented work flow forces you into a mode where you segment your tasks as atomically as possible, for example using the pomodoro technique. There are certainly times when a quiet space is necessary, and I will retreat away from my desk to a library or quiet corner where I'm not near people. I wonder how much of this is because I am young (24). My generation has grown up bombarded by distractions. So much so, in fact, that I find that there are equally many distractions inside of my computer as there are coming from the office plan.
