Marcin Jakubowski of Open Source Ecology presents his plan to open-source blueprints for 50 cheap, buildable farming tools, a "civilization starter kit". He argues that opening the means of production can enable self-sustaining lives.

HN cites it as the introductory talk from the Open Source Ecology founder in threads on tractors, repair rights and self-sufficiency.

Not sure if anybody has mentioned this regarding open source hardware, they are really doing a great job repairing on their own 1. [LINK] 2. Years ago, there was a TED Talk[0] from the guy that started Open Source Ecology[1]. The TED Talk was really cool, but I haven't really followed what they did. It sounded promising to have open-source technology for use in this space. [0] this video [1] [LINK]

His TED talk - this video His OSE - [LINK] Looks like the initial ambitions have been scaled back to what they use to be, at least in time frame.
