Disney researches / develops some really cool stuff. Their Disney Research Hub channel is a goldmine. One of my favorites is Touché. The world becomes your touchscreen: this video
If you liked this, check out another project from Disney labs called "Touché" -- this video For some reason, the girl's reactions to the 2 bzzzt-wrong sounds @ 2:55 are hilarious.
The "false touch" problem is solvable: "Swept Frequency Capacitive Sensing" this video Basically the idea is to make devices aware of the physical context of user interactions.
Disney is about to have a serious talk with Facebook. Disney Research has had a prototype on gesture detection via wristband electric sensing tech since 2012 : this video
This is really cool tech, but the first application concept is hilarious [0]. If you hook a cereal bowl up to this device, you can have it make a loud sound if your child puts their hand in the bowl as opposed to using a spoon? That's simultaneously funny and utterly dystopian. [0] this video
