Casey Muratori's invited lecture on where bad code comes from, rebroadcast from a Twitch stream. He critiques conventional wisdom such as SOLID and Clean Code and argues about how those habits lead to slow, poorly structured software.
HN commenters cite it as a sharp critique of SOLID, Clean Code and 'non-pessimized' programming, and as context for why software is getting worse.

There's a good take on this by Casey Muratori - this video And I agree with him. Things like SOLID and "Clean Code" really are just buzzwords nowadays that don't mean anything.
> Additionally I think SOLID principles should be part of every (software) engineer’s skills repertoire. No. I don't agree with Casey Muratori on a lot of things, but he hits the nail on the head about that statement in this video (around 23:00, but I'd suggest you watch the whole thing for context) - this video I've walked out of interviews (politely) because I was asked to recite some buzzword bullshit like SOLID.
I think they used that term on purpose. Non-pessimized in this case is the same as optimized, and I believe it's a reference to this video this video
This topic is one of Casey Muratori's (of Handmade Hero fame) pet peeves - here is a talk on it he recorded for youtube: this video
