Google engineers describe Google's internal build system, a unified, language-agnostic system used across the company. It was presented as a 2012 NYC tech talk.
Referenced as a rare public description of how Google builds software, from which tools like Bazel descend.

The Wired article talks about internal tools used to compile code. In line with that, there is an interesting video "Building Software at Google Scale" [1], which seems to give an overview of the systems used. [1] this video
Honestly, I've heard the majority of it before, and I have never been a Google employee. I have, however, listened to some of their talks on the internal workflows and processes that they've presented and posted on youtube. I think the only things I didn't hear before were some of the specific toolnames. edit: [LINK] here's their engineering tools blog. this video and a talk [LINK] and another talk Really cool stuff.
Google has publically described their build system here [LINK] (low fidelity) and here this video (high fidelity)
