"Richard Mayhew is an ordinary young man with an ordinary life and a good heart. His world is changed forever when he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. This small kindness propels him into a dark world he never dreamed existed. He must learn to survive in London Below, in a world of perpetual shadows and darkness, filled with monsters and saints, murderers and angels. He must survive if he is ever to return to the London that he knew."
I love the world and plot of Neverwhere, but the protagonist, Richard Mayhew, always pissed me off because he’s such a loser. I never understood why Gaiman chose him to be in charge of the story.
Now I’m wondering if that’s my American sensibility.
Haven't heard of this one, sounds right up my alley too!
I need to check out more Gaiman too, I really enjoyed Neverwhere
I was also listening to Evan Doorbell’s telephone tapes [1] as I read Exploding the Phone, which was super interesting because you can see the events of the book line-up with some of the comments Evan and other phreaks make on the tapes (like phone company security agents harassing them at their schools)
Always ask for the mushroom sandwich fully cooked.
