- No, most (non-pedantic) Asimov fans refer to the first three books (F, F&E, SF - which yes are technically collections of short stories glued together as one) as "the Foundation Trilogy". I do recommend reading the Foundation's Edge and Foundation and Earth, they're worthy sequels to the "trilogy".
The Robot novels are also a top read and tie in with the later Foundation books in a satisfying way:

- I was lucky enough to start reading the foundation series in chronological order at the start of this month and finished already. It was an amazing amalgamation of thoughts on possibilities, human nature, the potential of technology and the meaning of life and how we fit into it (particularly in Foundation and Earth).
My favorite part of reading the books though is realizing how things that seem impossible are always being made possible. Computers have evolved near to the point where they were in his foundation novels - space tech not so much - but with passion and resources so much can be created. It's humbling and empowering to see the world through his eyes.
- Since the OP asked about books not authors my favourite book is "Foundation and Earth" (Isaac Asimov), "Childhood's End" (A.C. Clarke) and Solaris (Stainslaw Lem).

It's a grim thought and I'm optimistic, but the stakes are very high. Reminds me of Solaria (Foundation and Earth, Asimov).
- I finished foundation this year too. I really didn’t like how he ended it. Fun fact I learned from reading Foundation’s Edge is that he didn’t want to write Edge or Foundation and Earth.
Gnome Press owned the original series and he didn’t get any royalties for them. In 1961, his current publisher Doubleday acquired them and for 20 years he told them no to writing more Foundation books. In 1981 Doubleday said they would pay him 10 times his normal rate and that is when he wrote Foundation’s Edge.
This was all printed in the front of my copy of Foundation and Earth. Titled as “The Story Behind the Foundation”.
