   Not that interesting, apparently this scale of meteor happens on average multiple times a year, just not usually over such an urban area.

   The 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor (1) was larger and caused ground damage and injuries from e.g. flying glass from broken windows.

   Based on the last Alien invasion book that I read (2), it would rather start with air bursting the bioweapons, spreading the plagues to weaken us. Which ah, also fits this incident.

   It can be, but there has always been a lot of garbage like any art form. "The Well-Tempered Plot Device" is more than 40 years old now. https://news.ansible.uk/plotdev.html

   And even the best authors are infested with "series-itis" and especially the fatal malady "series incompletus".

   My sci-fi/fantasy reading habit broke because I refused to start any series that wasn't finished. Suddenly, 99% of sci-fi/fantasy disappeared.

   My only hope for David Gerrold to finish the "War Against the Chtorr" series is for him to have notes that he hands to someone else. The last book was 36 years ago! Don't complain to me about George R. R. Martin. Amateurs.

   I'll point out that I read Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos series, which started in 1983, is projected to run to 19 books with 17 done. Brust is 70, but he appears to be in reasonable shape, and the books have been pretty regular of late, so it looks like he'll finish.

   I also read the War Against the Chtorr series by David Gerrold. That also started in 1983, but the last published book, the 4th of 7, came out in 1993. Gerrold being 81, despite his claims for almost a decade that books 5 and 6 are near completion, I am confident I will not see the end of the series written by him :-(

   David Gerrold started an interesting series of SF books - War Against the Chtorr - with a similar premise, but the invasive species were a deliberate attack by aliens. "Terraformation", but the other way around.

   Pffft. Amateur.

   David Gerrold is never going to finish the "War Against the Chtorr" series. The last book was 1993. We're about to hit 4 decades since the last book.
