    Effective Executive

Peter F. Drucker, Joseph A. Maciariello, Jim Collins, Tim Andres Pabon · 1967

The measure of the executive, Peter Drucker reminds us, is the ability to "get the right things done." This usually involves doing what other people have overlooked as well as avoiding what is unproductive. Intelligence, imagination, and knowledge may all be wasted in an executive job without the acquired habits of mind that mold them into results.

If you want a book that will actually change how you think about money and leverage, I recommend Peter Drucker "The Effective Executive". The first chapter alone is gold.

Apparently when Bill Gates was asked what he read, he started with "well of course, Drucker" or something similar. It's harder to read, but the advice is actually useful!

The Peter Drucker compliment is pretty amazing.

As an aside for anyone who’s technical and wants to understand how most corporations work, read “Effective Executive.” It’s from the 60’s but is still very relevant.

It (more or less) is “how to be a knowledge worker.”

"The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work" by Gottman. It's not the best writing in the world yet it's based on 50 years of actual research.

"Peopleware" by Tom DeMarco. It's a book every manager should read about how, maybe, you can create a team that jells.

"The Effective Executive" by Peter Drucker. Examines the necessities of knowledge work. What every manager and employee should read.

Off the top of my head:

        - Peter Drucker - The Effective Executive
        - Andy Grove - High Output Management
        - Fred Brooks - The Mythical Man-Month
        - Marty Cagan - Inspired

Folks probably have a few others (and I'd love to hear them), but these are the ones I often recommend (and reread myself).
