- Citizen's United destroyed journalism by making it for profit propaganda for the wealthy, but its always been under attack.
Journalism has always been under attack from the wealthy robber barons of the time. Rockefeller famously bought out the magazine/newspaper that muckraker Ida Tarbell wrote for after she wrote a damning book about Standard Oil. However, it only hardened her and other muckrakers, who later led to the break up of Standard Oil, term limits, and other restrains on the abuse of power.
I find the parallels between then and now quite striking. Except today's boogeymen have rebranded and call themselves tech billionaires. They got ahead of muckrakers by owning journalism, media, and social media, and have used there Pinkertons (Trust and Safety Teams) to censoring anyone who speaks out against them.
There are good journalists out there though. I think a modern equivalent of Ida Tarbell may be Whitney Webb for writing One Nation under Blackmail about the Epstein Files.
- Whitney Webb shows how deep the corruption goes in her two volume book "One Nation Under Blackmail". Glenn Beck's interview with Whitney is the best one I've watched. Disheartening and aggravating to listen to but it reinforces the suspicion that we are all being lied to on a grand scale. She also talks about circumstantial evidence that Epstein was working for or with the CIA.

It is likely Epstein was just a front man and Ghislane Maxwell was actually his handler. Now look at who her dad was. Who she grew up with also.
Her sisters are one of the hidden threads those on HN might be interested in. Hints of Danny Casalaro's research keep popping up on this topic...
edit: I find how quickly stories like these drop off front page suspiciously artificial.
- One Nation Under Blackmail: The Sordid Union between Intelligence and Organized Crime that Gave Rise to Jeffrey Epstein book 1 and 2 are pribably the best books of the year and Whitney Webb deserves a Pulitzer for the sheer volume of research she has done on the networks predating Epstein and those like him and their evolution into what they are today.
If you want to know about how the world truly works, pick up these two books, but be prepared to be shocked at what you learn about how deep the rabbit hole goes.

There is a long, tangled and sordid relationship between organized crime and the American security state. Epstein was an intelligence asset committing both sexual crimes and financial crimes, benefiting himself and his "friends" in the intelligence community. The FBI has his "little black book" and no doubt collections of his videos of prominent politicians and business leaders; these "resources" are being used by a cadre of elites who control the American security state to advance their own interests.
Some interesting tidbits:
Ghislaine Maxwell's father, Robert Maxwell was an asset for both British intelligence and Mossad (both of course have a close relationship with the American security state).
Donald Barr, father of two time Attorney General (Bush senior and Trump) William Barr, had deep ties into the intelligence community. As headmaster at the Dalton School he ran a program in the 1970s for the NSA to recruit promising talent for the intelligence community.

Whitney Webb makes a very good case that we should ignore the "left/right", "red/blue" political theater; it truly is just theater created by a cadre of elites to keep us distracted while they increase their power and control. This cadre of elites controls both political parties through bribery and blackmail. The real danger is not from the left or right, the real danger is a "neo-feudalism" this cadre of elites is attempting to impose. "Catastrophic Climate Change" is a significant part of this theater to distract people from the real environmental crimes this cadre of elites is committing.
The initial reviews on Amazon highlight another point: Whitney Webb has meticulously documented her references; ALL of which come from public sources. She just links everything together. Why hasn't the mainstream media brought this information to light? There is only one answer to that question: the mainstream media is controlled by this cadre of elites.
We are getting close to a "tipping point" where the need for a new political party will become evident to all thinking, decent people.
