Untold History of the United States

Oliver Stone, Peter Kuznick · 2012

An undertaking that Oliver Stone sees as his greatest achievement so far, The Untold History of the United States is a monumental history of the last 100 years of American Imperialism and the national security state, from the late nineteenth century through to the Obama administration.

      > they did exactly nothing to take advantage of that disparity

Oh come on, you cannot seriously believe that. Anyhow, I recommend you watch 'The Untold History of the United States' by Oliver Stone [0]. He has done a great job of telling people the stories that are not told in your history classes.

Terrible and embarrassing. Vox did a short docu on it: https://youtu.be/x-ItsPBTFO0

Here are some other horrors that also don't get much coverage:

1932 - Bonus Army - see: [0]. Hoover ordered Patton and MacArthur to throw out destitute veterans, women and children from peacefully protesting in DC to get their promised war pay earlier. They charged them by force. It was more benign that a veterans's Occupy Wall St. Two veterans were shot to death, a boy was killed and a pregnant woman miscarried after the police stormed a hospital with tear gas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonus_Army

Speaking of history and the Cold War, a worthy docuseries to face some uncomfortable facts of the US' post-WW2 behavior: Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States. Even Gorbachev wrote an opinion on the subsequently-released book.

On top of this, there’s fairly well established historical record showing that the dropping the bombs was unnecessary, even for attaining Japan’s Surrender. You can find this in sources as mainstream as Oliver Stone’s _Untold History of the United States_

I tried to watch his "Untold History of the United States" and it felt like some of it was taken out of context or attributing malice where naivety, incompetence or insufficient information would be a more plausible explanation. Can't think of any specific examples. Just what I remember from watching it before stopping.
