    Growth Hacker Marketing

    Ryan Holiday · 2013

"A new generation of megabrands like Facebook, Dropbox, AirBnb, and Twitter haven't spent a dime on traditional marketing. No press releases, no TV commercials, no billboards. Instead they rely on a new strategy-growth hacking-to reach many more people despite modest marketing budgets. According to bestselling author Ryan Holiday, growth hackers have thrown out the old playbook and replaced it with tools that are testable, trackable, and scalable. They believe that products and businesses should be modified repeatedly until they're primed to generate explosive reactions. Holiday offers rules and examples for aspiring growth hackers, whether they work for tiny startups or Fortune 500 giants"

Start with Ryan Holiday's book Growth Hacker marketing. Honestly it's an evolving art and to understand the various ins and outs, you need to get your hands dirty. Make a random general interest site. Play with SEO best practice. Build a social presence and throw a few bucks at facebook ads. etc.

This isn't some bullshit ploy to collect emails or aything...

Ryan is speaking at an event I put on and I bought 500 of his latest book in return. If you don't know, he's the Director of Marketing for American Apparel and he is a WSJ Bestselling Author. Growth Hacker Marketing is the #1 Marketing Book on Amazon - http://amazon.com/Growth-Hacker-Marketing-Advertising-ebook/dp/B00BPDR3JM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378255664&sr=8-1&keywords=growth+hacker+marketing

I disagree. Growth hacking is not tactics, it's a different way to think about marketing and it completely doesn't take away the focus on building a remarkable product. The book Growth Hacker Marketing: A Primer begins with the importance of PMF and marketing getting embedded in Product Development.

I do agree however that the '101 tactics to growthack' are mostly B.S. and take away from the way to think about it.
