I would not say the books of Diomidis Spinellis are timeless or that will change your life as Engineer. But always though they do not deserve the low ratings, and that as an author, he is very unfairly judged. So I am adding these three to this thread.

"Code Reading: Open Source Perspective" - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/529511.Code_Reading

"Code Quality: The Open Source Perspective" - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/169414.Code_Quality

"Effective Debugging: 66 Specific Ways to Debug Software and Systems" - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26720867-effective-debug...

BTW, Spinellis MOOC about unix tools must be great: https://www.edx.org/course/unix-tools-data-software-and-prod...

I'm really a fan of Spinellis, his books are excellent: https://www.spinellis.gr/pubs/index.html#book

Effective Debugging book is a must read for any software developer. The Elements of Computing Style is useful for any knowledge worker. Code Reading is probably the only important book in the subject.

The only problem with his books is that they are rather expensive, specially for developers who doesn't earn in dollars :-(

John Regehr has a post with some book recommendations from 2013 [0]. Notably one of the books corresponds to an older Udacity course [1].

There's also this book that was recently published called Effective Debugging: 66 Specific Ways to Debug Software and Systems [2].
