The conned: an Oxford don, a revered society physician, a chic French art dealer, and a charming English lord. They have one thing in common. Overnight, each novice investor lost his life's fortune to one man. The con: Harvey Metcalfe. A brilliant, self-made guru of deceit. A very dangerous individual. And now, a hunted man. With nothing left to lose four strangers are about to come together—each expert in their own field. Their plan: find Harvey, shadow him, trap him, and penny-for-penny, destroy him. From the luxurious casinos of Monte Carlo to the high-stakes windows at Ascot to the bustling streets of Wall Street to fashionable London galleries, their own ingenious game has begun. It's called revenge—and they were taught by a master.
Cryptonomicon I am at about 15 reads (including audio book listens a few more), and maybe a handful for Snow Crash, Anathem and Reamde.
My book of choice for re-reading is Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, by Jeffrey Archer. I must be at 50 re-reads of that now, and I own two first editions. Strange what catches your mind!
It is an epic saga which is broken across eight books.
This is not like 'not a penny more, not a penny less' which was a standalone book by Jeffrey Archer or 11.22.63, another standalone book by Stephen King.
I am not holding my breath out for 11.22.64 demanding that King write a sequel to it. No sir.
Why everyone is holding their breath for GoT is that it is an unfinished book which was announced as a 8part series.
> People in general dont evaluate that when reading or recommending a book.
LOL go talk to GoT fans. We've been waiting 11yrs for a sequel which was promised 8+yrs ago. Ask them what I said. 'Would you have read GoT if you knew that GRRM would rather write a prequel than finish the current series.'
I am pretty sure everyone will say NO.
