I love Gonick's books! I have his Cartoon Guide to Calculus, Modern History, and US History too! His bibliographies at the back of the books would make for excellent syllabuses

I think this would be a good book in a year or two. For now, if I can introduce basic concepts like slopes, derivatives, limits, and similar, simply and intuitively, that would be ideal.

Thus far, my favorite is Cartoon Guide to Calculus.

Forrest Mims III taught me electronics as a teenager. Also Larry Gonick really rounded out my rusty calculus knowledge with his "Cartoon Guide to Calculus" [0] This is just the product page, no stupid referral on the link.

If you want to try a hardcopy book, a mathematician friend of mine suggested "The Cartoon Guide To Calculus" which is available very cheaply on Amazon. Her recommendation has helped me immensely to learn calculus.

Pretty good. I think Larry Gornick's The Cartoon Guide to Calculus[0] is better. Has a lot of narrative elements as well.
