Kevin Kelly also wrote What Technology Wants. It has some very interesting ideas, that seep into all other areas.

Read this chapter in 'What Technology Wants'. The technium operating as a living organism takes a new form in the context of LLMs - especially when considering these technologies are emulating source content created by humans. If generated information breaks conventions of quality checking (like SEO ranking and upvotes) it would appear that the technium is biased towards a different kind of validation mechanism - or perhaps none at all.

If you haven't yet, you should read Kevin Kelly's "What Technology Wants" it devotes quite a few pages to the idea of evolution/augmentation via technology.

Kevin Kelly has an interesting take on this in _What Technology Wants_ [1]. Essentially - that these sort of works were inevitable. If Kubrick, Gates, or Bezos hadn't made 2001, MS, or AMZ - someone else would have. Not _exactly_ the same thing of course, but something so similar as to fill the same spot in history. 2001 happened because 1968 was, in a sense, "ripe" for it. The book undoubtably explains it better. :-)

(Weird. This is the second book recommendation I've made on HN today... I swear I'm not a bot!)

Bhagvad Gita (as it is) - A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Not just a spiritual book, more like the guiding principles that anyone, starting something new, could use.

The Idea Factory: Bell Labs and the Great Age of American Innovation - Jon Gertner

Bell Labs, the RnD wing of AT&T-was the best laboratory for new ideas in the world. The book tells a story about the life and work of a small group of brilliant people - Mervin Kelly, Bill Shockley, Claude Shannon, John Pierce, and Bill Baker.

Peak - Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool You must have heard this a 1000 times - "you can do this", the book is about - "yes, and this is how"

The master algorithm - Pedro Domingos Book details out the philosophies of various schools of thought in AI - deep learning, bayesian, genetic, reasoning - in a very simple language.

What technology wants - Kevin Kelly Technology is a living organism and there are patterns to the technology evolution, not unlike the organic evolution.
