All of that falls flat when you assume the phenomenon itself is intelligent.

So it's no surprise in the age of smartphones we don't see increased footage.

The evidence is out there. Don't be surprised you don't get it when you don't look into it and evaluate the evidence for yourself.

If you're interested, see UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record by Leslie Kean.

You can update your priors by looking into more cases. A pattern emerges.

See UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record by Leslie Kean.

Podcasts are just a form of easily digestible popular media.

If you're actually interested in learning see UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record by Leslie Kean.

There are many such books with independent accounts of those who have experienced strange phenomena, that are all consistent with each other. These books are well researched and highly sourced with credible witnesses.

I suggest you reserve judgement on what is possible or not if you haven't engaged with the available evidence.

Leslie Kean's UFOs: Generals, Pilots, and Government Officials Go on the Record.

Reading this started my deep dive into the rabbit hole of high strangeness phenomena.

Can't say one way or another if it's all just bunk or not, but at least it's entertaining.

It's been pretty clear for some time now for those who study the facts that there is a very good chance there are real objects in the sky that maneuver in ways that conventional aircraft are unable to and cannot be explained adequately as other observed phenomenon. The taboo around this subject due to the common hypothesis they are due to extraterrestrials is a shame because there's been plenty of documented evidence that not only has this been going on but that governments around the world take it seriously enough to investigate it.

I found this book to be a good take that avoids hyperbole and tries to stick to the evidence and facts:

If you were to ask me to guess, my bet is that current and past government programs to investigate these objects have concluded that a) they are non-threats to US national security and that b) performing further invasive means to investigate them past our current level of understanding is too risky to pursue. So (again if I had to guess) the consensus is, theories of their origin aside, "don't look into it further, and be assured that there will be no harm in not doing so," which is why you can see a program like this shut down without necessarily assuming that it was a waste or a wild goose chase.

For those interested in other "legitimate" UFO sightings, I'd recommend "UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record" by Leslie Kean [1]. The author is an investigative journalist who sets out to interview observers of relatively well-documented UFO encounters, and ends up speaking mostly with military pilots from around the world. It's a good read, and is even-handed and well written, especially considering the genre.

In the book, two things stood out to me. First, there are a quite a few UFO sightings that are corroborated by non-human sensor data (mostly radar and video). Second, the narrative paints a picture where US government officials are much more secretive than any other nation, by far. Within that context, the releases of the last few weeks are even more surprising.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in a modern, not-too-X-files-like take on UFO phenomena.
