"The world of securities has its own special language, and the successful investor knows how to read it. Here, in a single compact, easy-to-understand volume, is everything you need to master the vital yet often mystifying information published in the financial pages of newspapers and business publications. You'll find every term and symbol explained in detail as well as descriptions of how particular securities are used by investors, where to buy them, and pitfalls to avoid."--book cover.
It covers most of Equities and Bonds and is often hilarious.
It covers how governments finance themselves by issuing bonds, t-bills etc
A fairly straightforward read for any HNer, should be a couple of days easy.
"How to Read the Financial Pages"
This book really breaks down the finance industry from a component and historical point of view. Stocks, dividends, bonds, TBills, Eurobonds
Another similar book is How To Read the Financial Pages[1]. Again, probably a little dated, but I don't think much of the terminology has changed.
I would still recommend index funds for the best returns, but if you want to follow the financial news it helps to understand the lingo.
