      Try "Meditation" by Eknath Easwaran.

I read it some years ago, so don't remember for sure about the dogma bit, but it likely does not have much of that.

Read "Affective Neuroscience" (or Archeology of the Mind) by Jaak Panksepp for a better understanding of where emotions come from (primary affect).

Read "Mindsight" by Daniel Siegel for a view on higher level emotional processing. You can "sample" his ideas by watching some of his interviews on Mindsight.

Read "Passage Meditation" by Eknath Easwaran for a simple and accessible program of meditation. Meditation, in its various forms, improves emotional control.

Pursuing Meditation as a way to make more money or increase business productivity/bottomline, is too narrow and simplistic. Daily meditation (specifically Passage Meditation http://www.easwaran.org/) practice has changed my life's priorities dramatically.

At the risk of sounding a little too touchy-feely, Meditation helps you:

      a) Be more compassionate and choose what is right, instead of what brings more material wealth.

      b) Bring more clarity and focus to what you are doing.

      c) Understand yourself and others better, forgive yourself and others easily, love yourself and others unconditionally.

Three points that stood out for me were: 1) meditate 2) work on one thing that matters the most for today 3) know that you have good options even if your startup fails

In essence through meditation entrepreneurs can bring forth deep resources from the subconscious, through one pointed attention they can complete tasks that matter and by putting others first, deliver right value at the right price.

I am an entrepreneur too and the way I keep my balance is follow the eight point passage meditation program (http://www.easwaran.org/the-eight-point-program.html).

This was one of the most useful blog posts I read in the recent few days. I am an entrepreneur and I too have multiple beliefs that hold me back. In the end it is about recognizing conditioned habits that are holding you back and using positive affirmations or prayers (http://www.easwaran.org/saint-teresa-of-avila-let-nothing-up...) to come out of them. In my experience these techniques work very well in overcoming negative habits like anger, fear and greed. I practice Passage Meditation (easwaran.org) and its main punch line is, you become what you meditate on. I see resistance to follow these techniques from many people, yet many willingly fall prey to negative media. In essence you are eating/consuming through your senses all the time. By consciously choosing to fill your mind with positive messages you can overtime  become a much more productive and happier person.
