      > having devoured plenty of dreck and enjoyed it (like the Hunger Games trilogy for example)

I'm surprised you consider the Hunger Games to be dreck. They're clearly books for teenagers, but have a strong voice, and have the honesty to show the costs their characters paid for their heroism.

I just finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy. In less than a week. It was really good.

Work Where wizards stayed up late - Matthew Lyon, Katie Hafner: The beginning of the internet. Plenty of history and lessons

Fun The Hunger Games Trilogy - Suzanne Collins. Young adult fiction that reads fast but makes you think.

Life Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough - Lori Gottlieb: Amusing book, easy read and aimed at women, but has some good insights on why we fail to get married before it's too late.

I love that I was able to scroll through pages on Amazon to check (most of) the books I read this year.

Indeed. Writing a book creates a passive income stream. Much like a blog with ads. It's arguable it's not completely passive, you can/should do promo - but equally you may want to do SEO on a blog.

The Hunger Games trilogy will be getting a lot of sales now, since the movie has been released and it did well on Amazon. The first book is 4 years old though, plenty of books pay off after the initial release.
