Towards Dev is a Medium publication with programming tutorials on serverless, SQL, Go, data science, and architecture.
HN commenters accuse it of plagiarism, saying one Rust post was copied from matklad's blog without changes.
I write native GUIs in GTK using Julia at the moment. Julia is one of the most modern languages you can use today. Multiple-dispatch, very functional, modern package management and virtual environments, high performance, modern sophisticated REPL environment. GTK is quite nice as Glade is one of the nicer GUI designers.
Here is a simple Julia GTK project on GitHub: https://github.com/ordovician/RocketBuilder.jl
Some articles I wrote related to GTK programming with Julia and GTK in general:
- Understanding GTK Layouts: https://itnext.io/understanding-gtk-layouts-13e5a36256fa
- Hiccups Writing GTK3 GUI Code in Julia: https://towardsdev.com/hiccups-writing-gtk3-gui-code-in-julia-on-macos-2467483c2e78
If Julia is not your cup of tea then GTK can be used with Go and Swift as well.
There's other opinions out there, that discuss the direction taken by Go on error handling, for example this Vlang related article[1] that touched on it (from someone who appears to be a gopher).
However, part of the issue is the tolerance or maturity necessary for being able to handle a different opinion. That someone gives a different preference, for instance Vlang or Odin (that has its own views), can make evangelists or "corporate machinery" upset. Then we can witness mob or anger downvoting. This then limits the debate or creates more of a barrier for different opinions to want to contribute or ever be seen.

Nice find! This person is so blatant with their plagiarism, he doesn't even bother to change a thing.
