The team behind Soapbox builds open-source software for the Fediverse and Nostr, including a Mastodon-compatible web interface and a Nostr bridge.
HN commenters mention Soapbox as a mature alternative frontend for Pleroma and Mastodon, noting its link to Truth Social and that it is hard to find on Google.
Soapbox is hard to find on Google:

> TMTG hired Gleason in January 2022 to adapt Soapbox’s technology for its own needs, eventually using it as the front-end technology - which users see and interact with - for the Truth Social app.
This bit is interesting. I wonder if Truth Social is like a "closed fediverse" under the hood, or if its just the UI that's adapted.
https://jointhefedi.com gives a good list of instances to join. Check out https://soapbox.pub/ as a great frontend for pleroma.

Soapbox[1] is probably the most mature alternative to Mastodon, but the general consensus seems to be that it can't be used because most users of Mastodon don't align with the Soapbox creator's view on politics.

What do you mean? Every post I do shows up instantly.
Reloading the page from scratch can be slow due to Soapbox doing a lot of stuff asynchronously from scratch (Soapbox is the open-source Mastodon interface that we're using to serve the frontend). https://soapbox.pub/
Why get bit by proprietary+centralized again when we have nostr now? https://nostr.how/en/what-is-nostr and nostr even bridges to ActivityPub https://soapbox.pub/blog/mostr-fediverse-nostr-bridge/

I was thinking of using a fediverse instance for my blog but I am unsure whether it's a good idea.
