Commit Log is a Medium publication with opinionated posts on web design, Node.js, Electron, TypeScript, and programming history.
HN mostly links its 'Electron is cancer' post in arguments over Electron's slowness, memory use, and security compared with native apps.
Been a partner for about a year now, which pays you an undisclosed cut of the members fee from those that engage with your content (meaning claps).
Mine is about, uhm, me being a disillusioned 30 year old developer hating how things are done now? Rants like this https://medium.com/commitlog/how-to-design-for-the-modern-web-52eaa926bae2 tend to alright.
Throwing in an amazon link when its appropriate, or funny in the above case doesn't hurt either. Kinda got an on-going thing with always pushing K&R books.
Have you considered the security and memory footprint implications of using electron? I totally carry your base concern for making this, but electron would not generally my first choice for making most apps.

I know some people think Electron is cancer[1], but it is the fastest way to write cross-platform applications. I've been trying to learn to make apps for macOS, and it feels like even Apple doesn't want me write apps for the Mac.

It doesn't take that advanced of a programmer to know that a simple chat client like discord or slack should not take seconds (on the order of 5 to 6) to load! We are running super computers here!

RIP - I hope the rest of the Javascript/ECMA script/Elektron/Webapp/web-desktop-app programs all fail due to their slow Node.js nature.
