Elijah Manor, a web developer, writes about JavaScript, jQuery, React, and browser developer tools.
HN commenters link his React tutorials and his post tracking React's growing file size, one noting about 45KB gzipped.
This is a _great_ tutorial series! I've already added it to my React/Redux links list ([0}), and is definitely one that I'd point people to right away in the future, along with other tutorials like the official React docs ([1]), the "React to the Future" slideshow ([2]), and the "Learn Raw React - no JSX or ES6" tutorial ([3]).

I like React a lot, but boy. That file size is getting pretty large:

Looks to be around 45KB gzipped now, to say nothing of the parse time. It's becoming a pretty huge dependency and I wonder how much of it 90% of projects really use. Personally, I've been getting along just fine with Preact, which matches a lot of the API and is just 3KB gzipped:

Yes, this would work in most languages. I also like CoffeeScript's multi-line Regexes where you're able to add comments. Example: http://elijahmanor.com/regular-expressions-in-coffeescript-are-awesome/
