    What HN says

HN commenters link it for OVH's price increases, its liquid cooling work, and its US entity being separate; one calls a post useless.

Link to reddit from one month ago, I cannot find anything on their website other than a blog post with a "9-11% increase": https://blog.ovhcloud.com/pricing-evolution-of-public-cloud-bare-metal-and-vps-at-ovhcloud/

Today I received this email (EU market):

Your linked articles are about immersion cooling, which is "liquid cooling," I suppose, but a very different thing. Do OVH actually use immersion cooling in production? This seems like a "labs" product that hasn't been fully baked yet.

OVH _do_ definitely use traditional water-loop/water-block liquid cooling like Google are presenting, described here: https://blog.ovhcloud.com/understanding-ovhclouds-data-centres-how-delta-t-helps-with-water-efficiency/ and visually in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFzirpvTiOo , but while it looks very similar architecturally their setup seems almost comically inefficient compared to Google's according to their PUE disclosures.

They say themselves that this increase is because of inflation + energy prices (https://blog.ovhcloud.com/ovhcloud-price-adjustments-in-2022-and-2023/). Are you saying they are lying about this?

      > In 2021 and especially in 2022, the global rates of inflation have changed our daily lives. With an annual rate reaching +8.9% in July 2022 in Europe

      > Thanks to the long-term management of our energy costs in 2021, we did not immediately need to change our prices. However, at the end of 2022 and in 2023, part of our energy purchases coverage are coming to an end and we are going to end up buying energy at a higher price

      > For my company, neither egress nor storage cost are the big issue. It’s the API call (PUT) cost.

      > We are write heavy. Reads are probably 1% but need to be instant for a good UI and API experience.

It sounds like the recently released OVH High Performance Object Storage[1] might be a good fit.

It has better performance than S3[2], completely free API calls, and $0.015 / GB egress.

This is a pretty useless post. You could also follow the same 1000x tutorials about llama and use the already uploaded hugging face formats that are on hugging face...
