And a Dinosaur is an indie developer's site for Safari extensions and Apple apps, such as Vinegar and History Book.
HN commenters recommend Vinegar, which plays YouTube in the native video player and as a side effect removes ads, and also mention History Book.
Not if you use Vinegar [0]. This extension is the main reason I can't switch from Safari to Orion as my main browser. The hit areas on YouTube's player controls are so obnoxious, I installed this just to work around them but it has the side benefit of loading the videos directly into the native video player without ads.

I've been enjoying an ad-free experience on my iPad, iPhone, and Mac by my one time purchase of "vinegar".

If YT would now block me completely, I would simply have one less reason to use them at all. PeerTube is my go-to first stop anyways.
I have not seen youtube's warning on iphone safari (not logged in, firefox focus and 1blocker legacy content blockers)
but that could be because i am using vinegar[0] to replace youtube's player with a <video> tag

I use Vinegar[1] on iOS and macOS. It renders YouTube using the native system video player, and strips all the cruft (up next, recommended, etc). It has the side effect of removing ads.

This is Mac only and I have no affiliation other than I like this developer but your request reminded me that he just launched this app: https://andadinosaur.com/launch-history-book
There is a Safari extension for this. With the added advantage of replacing the stupid YouTube player with standard video controls.
